Year after year, filmdom looks forward to one source for Oscar predictions.
2008 is no exception nor was 2007
Best picture: “No Country for Old Men”
Best supporting actor: Javier Bardem, “No Country for Old Men”
Original score: “Atonement,” Dario Marianelli
Best director: Joel Coen and Ethan Coen, “No Country for Old Men”
Best screenplay: Joel Coen & Ethan Coen, “No Country for Old Men”
and though I didn’t post I called Best Actor for Lewis and Cinematography for “There will be Blood”. You can ask anyone if you want.
Jokes apart if last year was Martin Scorsese’s final redemption, this year belongs to the Coen brothers and their one disturbing movie. Folks all over the net are still wondering what it really means, only I figured it out completely. Actually I figured it out five times in one week. Remember 2007 was the year when all the big ticket hopefuls just went to the dogs – Spiderman 3, Shrek 3 and the normally ok Pirates. 2007 is not all waste, and if you missed “American Gangster” – go watch it!
P.S: “There will be Blood” is a long long movie, though not as long as Jodha Akbar
P.P.S: Jodha Akbar was so long and tiring, Mammooty slapped everyone in the theatre
